Volleyball Game Preview: Auburn Trojans vs. Olympia Spartans + How To Watch

For the first time this season, Auburn will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will square off against the Olympia Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Auburn will bounce into Thursday's matchup after beating Lutheran, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Trojans came out on top against the Crusaders by a score of 2-0 on Tuesday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 25-16.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Olympia, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out Prairie Central 2-1 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Spartans have posted against the Hawks since September 21, 2021.

If you add up the scores from across all three sets (70-61) Olympia actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 11-25, 25-23.

Auburn better keep an eye on Gabby Frye. She was instrumental in Olympia's win, getting 18 digs and three aces. That's the most aces Frye has posted over her last seven contests.

Auburn's victory was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-6. As for Olympia, their record is now 6-8.

Auburn came out on top in a nail-biter against Olympia in their previous meeting back in September of 2024, sneaking past 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Trojans since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
