Football Recap: Jordan Garcia and Jayden Martinez Secure Win for American

After only 12 points in their last contest, American made sure to put some points up on the board against Saint Mary on Friday. The Eagles came out on top against the Panthers by a score of 41-34.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Jayden Martinez and Jordan Garcia. Martinez rushed for 193 yards and two TDs while picking up 12.1 yards per carry while Garcia gained 175 total yards and two touchdowns. Those 193 rushing yards gave Martinez a new career-high. Nasir Adams also helped with two touchdowns in total.

American was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 337 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Saint Mary's only rushed for 103 rushing yards.

When it comes to explaining why Saint Mary's lost, don't look at Sutton Ralls. Despite the final result, he threw for 384 yards and four TDs while picking up 11.3 yards per attempt. Another player making a difference was Demarco Cruz, who picked up 97 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

American now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Saint Mary's, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

After each having a week off, American and Washington will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:00 p.m. on the 26th. As for Saint Mary's, they have already played their next game, a 41-22 loss against Castlemont on the 19th.
