Softball Game Preview: Parkway Panthers vs. South Adams Starfires

Parkway has won six straight games at home (dating back to last season), while South Adams has won six straight on the road also dating back to last season, but those streaks won't matter much on Monday. The Panthers will host the Starfires at 5:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Monday.

Parkway's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Crestview with a sharp 11-0 victory. That looming 11-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Panthers yet this season.

Meanwhile, South Adams made easy work of Wes-Del on Saturday and carried off a 10-0 win. Fans of the Starfires have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.

Not much got past Reagan Beitler, who gave up just four hits and racked up eight Ks to keep Wes-Del off the board.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Mackenzie Neuenschwander, who scored a run while going 4-for-4. Neuenschwander is crushing it when it comes to hits: she's got at least three every time she's taken the field this season. Bekah Patterson was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

South Adams was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .444 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

Parkway's victory bumped their record up to 5-0. As for South Adams, their win bumped their record up to 3-0.

Parkway took their victory against South Adams when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 17-5 score. Do the Panthers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Starfires turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
