Cottonwood is 8-2 against Houston County since January of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Cottonwood Bears will challenge the Houston County Lions at 3:00 p.m. Cottonwood will be strutting in after a victory while Houston County will be coming in after a defeat.

Cottonwood will bounce into Thursday's game after beating Geneva County, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Cottonwood was the clear victor by a 63-43 margin over Geneva County on Tuesday. Given the Bears' advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 164th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 380th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Houston County was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Monday as they fell 41-35 to Geneva County.

Cottonwood has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. As for Houston County, their loss dropped their record down to 2-14.

Cottonwood skirted past Houston County 49-47 when the teams last played back in December of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cottonwood since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
