Basketball Recap: Elijah Stephenson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Canyon Springs over Liberty

Canyon Springs was the 68-61 winner over Liberty when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. The Canyon Springs Cougars fell to the Liberty Bison 53-47. The Cougars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Several Cougars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Elijah Stephenson, who posted eight points and five steals. Those five steals gave Stephenson a new career-high. Tyler Vann was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Canyon Springs' loss dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Liberty, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.

Canyon Springs wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 46-37 defeat against Moreno Valley on the 14th. As for Liberty, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 54-40 win against JW North on the 14th.
