Baseball Recap: Rich Township Has No Trouble Against Thornridge

While Rich Township put up plenty of runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Thornridge. The Raptors blew past the Falcons 13-0. The Raptors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by six runs or more this season.

Rich Township saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Landon Hughes, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Another was Brandon Bankhead, who got on base in both of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Rich Township always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .760. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win made it two in a row for Rich Township and bumps their season record up to 5-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.0 runs over those games. As for Thornridge, their defeat was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rich Township will take on Kankakee at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Kays will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last. As for Thornridge, they will face off against Bloom at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Blazing Trojan have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.14 runs per game on average), something the Falcons will no doubt try to take advantage of.
