Volleyball Recap: East Wilkes Comes Up Short at Home Against East Surry

East Wilkes unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of East Surry by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. The loss continues a trend for East Wilkes in their meetings with East Surry: they've now lost five in a row.

In an exciting match in which no team claimed back-to-back wins, East Wilkes sadly wound up on the wrong side. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-24, 21-25, 25-13, 23-25, 15-11.

Olivia Staley paced East Wilkes' offense, picking up 13 kills. Staley got some help from Leila Dobbins and her 25 assists. Staley was also solid from the service line: she led the team with six aces.

East Wilkes is headed away from home for the first time to face off against Mount Airy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for East Surry, they have already played their next match, a 3-0 defeat against West Forsyth on the 13th.
