Softball Recap: Melrose Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Melrose had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Foley Falcons. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 6-2 back in April.

Kaitlyn Klasen spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on five hits and racked up 14 Ks. Those 14 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

On the hitting side, Melrose's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jaelyn Mayers, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. Emalee Klasen also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Melrose's record now sits at 17-5. As for Foley, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-11.

As of now, neither Melrose nor the Falcons have any future games scheduled.
