Football Game Preview: Hull Pirates vs. Cathedral Panthers

The Hull Pirates will face off against the Cathedral Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

On Friday, Hull was beaten by KIPP Academy Lynn Collegiate 40-10.

Meanwhile, Cathedral had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 29 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They took their game with ease, bagging a 49-6 victory over the Cardinals. That 43 point margin sets a new team best for the Panthers this season.

Cathedral's win came from a few key players Hull will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Xavier Roman, who threw for 136 yards and two TDs on perfect 8-for-8 passing, and also rushed for 30 yards and one score. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in passer rating (177.1). Jahni McCoy was another key player, rushing for 62 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Cathedral didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. Jasaun Young picked up that interception and then proceeded to rub salt in the wound by taking it back the other way for a touchdown. He got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Hull now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Cathedral, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.
