Basketball Recap: James Steward's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Marcos De Niza over Cactus Shadows

Marcos de Niza was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a hard 71-55 fall against the Cactus Shadows Falcons. The Padres were probably out for revenge after losing 75-51 to them when the teams met back in December of 2017, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Marcos de Niza lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being James Steward, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds. Steward is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last 19 games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Jeidarion Richard, who posted 13 points and five rebounds.

Marcos de Niza's defeat dropped their record down to 11-7. As for Cactus Shadows, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Marcos de Niza will face off against Combs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Cactus Shadows, they will square off against Coconino at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
