Baseball Recap: Massac County Comes Up Short

Massac County fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Harrisburg on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 7-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bulldogs. The Patriots were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bulldogs earlier this season, when they won 7-2.

Massac County saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ryan Musselman, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.

Massac County's loss dropped their record down to 13-3. As for Harrisburg, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-9 record this season.

The future could be bright for both Massac County and Harrisburg: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. The Patriots will try to hand Murphysboro their fourth-straight defeat when the two meet at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Harrisburg will look to extend Fairfield's three-game losing streak when they meet at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
