Softball Recap: Midland Takes a Loss

Midland was the 4-3 winner over Frenship when they last played one another back in April of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. Midland fell just short of Frenship by a score of 4-3 on Friday. Bulldogs fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Tigers since on Friday.

Midland saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emeri Ream, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI. Those two RBI gave Ream a new career-high.

This is the second loss in a row for Midland and nudges their season record down to 21-5. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 14-8 Midland Legacy (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 76.6% over those games). As for Frenship, their win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-2.

Midland and Frenship should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Midland (ranked 30th) will meet Odessa (ranked 455th) at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Frenship will challenge Midland Legacy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday up 168 places (9 vs. 177).
