Softball Recap: Benton Central Takes a Loss

After flying high against Frontier on Monday, Benton Central came back down to earth. The Bison lost 13-3 to the Pioneer Panthers on Thursday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-2 two weeks ago.

Madison Minniear was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

Benton Central has also been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 14 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-20 record this season. As for Pioneer, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 20-10.

Coming up, Benton Central will challenge Rensselaer Central at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Bison will need to watch out since the Bombers have now posted at least ten runs in their last three contests. As for Pioneer, they will square off against DeMotte Christian at 11:00 a.m. on Monday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Knights have averaged an impressive 7.8 runs per game this season.
