Softball Game Preview: Armstrong River Hawks vs. Gateway Gators

The Armstrong River Hawks are taking a road trip to square off against the Gateway Gators at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Armstrong is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 15 runs two weeks ago, they were much more limited against Penn-Trafford last Monday. They fell 7-2 to the Warriors. The River Hawks' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, Gateway came up short against Franklin Regional on Monday, falling 14-4. The defeat continues a trend for the Gators in their meetings with the Panthers: they've now lost five in a row.

Gianna D'Agostino made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 1-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Rylee Beavin, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Gateway's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Armstrong, the defeat was their first on the road , dropping their record down to 3-2.

Armstrong skirted past Gateway 6-5 when the teams last played back in April of 2017. The rematch might be a little tougher for the River Hawks since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
