Basketball Recap: Stevens Point Piles Up the Points Against Wausau East

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Stevens Point). They blew past the Wausau East Lumberjacks, posting a 97-33 win. The Panthers' offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.

Stevens Point got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Leah Awe out in front who shot 67% from the field en route to 32 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jada Seubert, who dropped a double-double with 25 points and ten boards.

Stevens Point was working as a unit and finished the game with 27 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wausau East only posted six.

When it comes to explaining why Wausau East lost on Friday, don't look at Elise Wetzsteon. Despite the final result, she posted 13 points. Wetzsteon is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Leila Hoenisch also deserves some recognition as she scored her first points of the season.

Stevens Point is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. As for Wausau East, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.
