Baseball Recap: JC Bermudez Doral Comes Up Short

JC Bermudez Doral was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the Florida Christian Patriots.

Yan Cartaya was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Noslen Sanchez and Jose Herrera did some serious damage despite the final result: Sanchez scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Herrera scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. JC Bermudez Doral is 2-1 when Herrera posts two or more runs, but 8-9 otherwise. Julian Fernandez also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

JC Bermudez Doral's defeat dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Florida Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 13-10.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. JC Bermudez Doral will face off against Gulliver Prep at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Florida Christian, they will challenge St. Brendan at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
