Basketball Game Preview: Horeb Christian Mustangs vs. Cristo Rey Monarchs

The Horeb Christian Mustangs will challenge the Cristo Rey Monarchs at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Horeb Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.4 points per game this season.

Horeb Christian took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They walked away with a 70-61 victory over Pinecrest Glades Academy. The Mustangs' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Horeb Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jonathan Gonzalez, who went 7 of 14 on his way to 19 points and five steals. That's the most steals Gonzalez has posted since back in November of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiden Ravelo, who posted seven points and 20 rebounds.

Meanwhile, Cristo Rey was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a blow against Archbishop Carroll, falling 76-44. The Monarchs were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 46-23.

Cristo Rey's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Horeb Christian, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Horeb Christian strolled past Cristo Rey in their previous meeting back in January by a score of 58-39. Does Horeb Christian have another victory up their sleeve, or will Cristo Rey turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
