Softball Game Preview: Scotts Valley Falcons vs. San Lorenzo Valley Cougars

Scotts Valley hasn't had much luck against San Lorenzo Valley recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Falcons will head out to face off against the Cougars at 4:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

San Lorenzo Valley will be up against a hot Scotts Valley team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Falcons put the hurt on Soquel with a sharp 10-2 victory on Thursday.

Sofie Seese spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Taylor Wilson was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run and five RBI. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Lorelei Warner also deserves some recognition as she scored her first runs of the season.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when San Lorenzo Valley faced off against Santa Cruz on Thursday. The Cougars blew past the Cardinals 17-5. That's two games straight that the Cougars have won by exactly 12 runs.

The win made it two in a row for San Lorenzo Valley and bumps their season record up to 8-6-1. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 6 runs in those games. As for Scotts Valley, their win bumped their record up to 12-5-1.

Scotts Valley was able to grind out a solid victory over San Lorenzo Valley in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, winning 9-4. Will the Falcons repeat their success, or do the Cougars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
