Baseball Recap: Basalt Has No Trouble Against Aspen

While Basalt didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They put the hurt on the Aspen Skiers with a sharp 19-2 victory on Wednesday. That looming 19-2 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Longhorns yet this season.

Karson Schneider was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three).

In other batting news, Chris Hays was a standout: he scored three runs while going 4-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). Kody Barton was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Basalt was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .481. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in four consecutive matchups.

Basalt's record is now 5-1. As for Aspen, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-3.
