Baseball Recap: Wyomissing Comes Up Short

Wyomissing lost against Berks Catholic back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Spartans lost 7-1 to the Saints. The match marked the Spartans' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Chase Bailey was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits.

Wyomissing moved to 4-2 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Berks Catholic, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-2.

Wyomissing and Berks Catholic should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings. The Spartans will take on Pottsville at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday with a big rank advantage (54 vs. 349). Meanwhile, Berks Catholic (ranked 131st) will meet Schuylkill Valley (ranked 281st) at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
