Basketball Recap: Jonas Mccuen's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Culver Community over Demotte Christian

Culver Community was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 13th straight loss. They received a blow as they fell 54-40 to the DeMotte Christian Knights. The Cavaliers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Knights apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Culver Community lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Jonas McCuen, who posted 16 points. The dominant performance gave McCuen a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Braylon Jackson, who put up 11 points.

DeMotte Christian's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tony Bos, who went 8 of 16 en route to 20 points along with seven boards and three steals. The matchup was Bos' third in a row with at least 19 points. Tanyon Bakker was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 18 points and nine rebounds.

Culver Community's loss dropped their record down to 1-15. As for DeMotte Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-9 record this season.

Coming up, Culver Community will look to defend their home court on February 13th against Argos at 7:00 p.m. As for DeMotte Christian, they will head out on the road to square off against Marquette Catholic at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
