Basketball Game Preview: Pensacola Tigers vs. West Florida Jaguars

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Pensacola Tigers take on the West Florida Jaguars at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday... Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Pensacola is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Escambia on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Pensacola lost 53-32 to Escambia. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Pensacola's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Khylen Eccles, who posted nine points, and Jabari Epps, who earned eight points.

Meanwhile, West Florida was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost to Pensacola Catholic on the road by a 70-56 margin. While losing is never fun, the Jaguars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 576th, while the Crusaders are ranked 210th).

The match pitted two dominant guards against one another in Brayden Justice and Solomon Sutton. Sutton had a great game and almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine boards. Meanwhile, Justice was balling out in the loss, going 10 of 19 on his way to 23 points along with six boards and three steals.

Pensacola's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for West Florida, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.
