Basketball Game Preview: Good Hope Raiders vs. Breathitt County Bobcats

The Good Hope Raiders and the Breathitt County Bobcats will round out the year against one another at at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Good Hope knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five matches -- so hopefully Breathitt County likes a good challenge.

On Saturday, couldn't have asked for a better way to wrap up 2024 than the 67-40 stomp they got against Leslie County. The Raiders have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 20 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Breathitt County earned a 58-47 victory over Arab on Saturday. Given the Bobcats' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 93rd in Kentucky, while the Knights are ranked 230th in Alabama), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Breathitt County is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.0 points per game. As for Good Hope, their win bumped their record up to 14-2.

Good Hope was taken down by Breathitt County 91-58 when the teams last played back in December of 2021. Can Good Hope avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
