Baseball Recap: Lakewood Comes Up Short

Lakewood suffered their closest loss since April 4th on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Long Beach Poly Jackrabbits by a score of 6-4. The Lancers have struggled against the Jackrabbits recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Lakewood got a good showing from Hunter Gershen, who tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Gershen has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 15 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Lakewood saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tanner Miramontes, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI. Nate Gallegos was another, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Lakewood's defeat dropped their record down to 12-16. As for Long Beach Poly, they now have a winning record of 14-13.

As of now, neither Lakewood nor the Jackrabbits have any future games scheduled.
