The Western Warriors gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Monday. They blew past Pinecrest Academy Cadence 55-10 at home. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 32-7.
Western's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Qaaima Taylor led the charge by scoring 24 points along with 5 assists and 3 steals. Arianna Boxley was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with 8 steals.
Western's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Pinecrest Academy Cadence, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Western will take on Bonanza at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Pinecrest Academy Cadence, they will head out on the road to face off against Pinecrest Academy Sloan Canyon at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Pinecrest Academy Sloan Canyon comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 15 points in their last four games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
