Basketball Recap: Kardiay Tyler's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Barberton over Highland

Barberton lost against Highland back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Barberton Magics lost 59-35 to the Highland Hornets. While losing is never fun, the Magics can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 261st, while the Hornets are ranked 75th).

Barberton lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Kardiay Tyler, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and ten boards. Tyler is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Joey Ondo was another key player, dropping a double-double with ten points and ten rebounds.

Barberton dropped their record down to 10-11 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Highland, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-3 record this season.

Barberton didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 66-58 loss against Twinsburg on the 15th. As for Highland, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 59-55 defeat against North Royalton on the 15th.
