Basketball Recap: Owen Mclaughlin and Tyler Mcknight Secure Win for New Smyrna Beach

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but New Smyrna Beach ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They walked away with a 93-86 win over the Deltona Wolves. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 78-69 back in December of 2024.

New Smyrna Beach was led to victory by Tyler Mcknight and Owen Mclaughlin. Mcknight went 8 for 16 en route to 25 points, while Mclaughlin dropped a double-double on 20 points and 13 rebounds. Those 25 points gave Mcknight a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Robert Hazard, who posted ten points and seven boards.

New Smyrna Beach smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in four consecutive matches.

New Smyrna Beach's record is now 13-6. As for Deltona, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-16 record this season.

New Smyrna Beach has already played their next contest (against Seminole Ridge), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Deltona will be playing in front of their home fans against University at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
