Football Recap: Central Grizzlies vs. Cabrillo Conquistadores
Central came into their game on Friday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They were beaten by the Cabrillo Conquistadores 56-0.
Quincy Moore threw for 73 yards on only five passes. Bryson Hendrix was his top target, picking up 83 receiving yards. On the ground, Juaquin Castro rushed for 116 yards.
Cabrillo got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Gabriel Barraza out in front who threw for 213 yards and three touchdowns on only 17 passes, and also rushed for 32 yards. Another rusher making a difference was Jacob Baraceros, who gained 118 total yards and two touchdowns.
Central now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Cabrillo, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-1.
Coming up, Central will venture away from home to face off against Sierra at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Grizzlies will be up against the Chieftains' rather soft defense (which has allowed 32.86 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Cabrillo, they will be playing at home against Nipomo at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. That contest will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Andre Brisco and Nick Evans.
