Volleyball Recap: Pomperaug Comes Up Short

Pomperaug lost against Newtown back in September of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Panthers fell just short of the Nighthawks by a score of 3-2. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Pomperaug sadly dropped the once that decided the match. The final score came out to 25-17, 20-25, 25-13, 19-25, 15-11.

Molly Schneider paced Pomperaug's offense, picking up 16 kills. Schneider got some help from Abby O'Connell and her 26 assists.

Pomperaug's loss dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Newtown, they pushed their record up to 7-6-1 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home.

Pomperaug wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 win against Immaculate on the 14th. As for Newtown, they have also already played their next match, a 3-2 defeat against Weston on the 14th.
