Softball Recap: Ten Straight Home Wins for Ayersville

Ayersville proved they can win big on Monday (they won by ten) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Antwerp Archers 1-0. The win continues a trend for the Pilots in their matchups with the Archers: they've now won four in a row.

Kendra Waldron was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run and one double.

Waldron wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Allison Eldridge, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one stolen base. Eldridge has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.

Ayersville pushed their record up to 12-4 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.6 runs over those games. As for Antwerp, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-10.
