Softball Recap: Mount Vernon Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Mount Vernon and Boyd squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Mount Vernon had to settle for second. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Yellowjackets. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Yellowjackets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 1-0 on Tuesday.

This is the second loss in a row for Mount Vernon and nudges their season record down to 27-7-1. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 4 runs in those games. As for Boyd, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 26-4-2.

While Mount Vernon had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled on Friday.
