Softball Game Preview: Thornton Wildcats vs. Bloom Blazing Trojan

Thornton hasn't had much luck against Bloom recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Wildcats will look to defend their home field against the Blazing Trojan at 4:30 p.m. Thornton has given up an average of 18.2 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Thornton is headed into Monday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 25th straight game dating back to last season on Thursday. They lost 21-5 to Rich Township. That's two games in a row now that the Wildcats have lost by exactly 16 runs.

Anna Ochoa was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. That RBI was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Tiana Watson, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Bloom and Kankakee, and Kankakee kept the tradition alive. The Blazing Trojan fell just short of the Kays by a score of 7-6 on Friday.

Bloom's defeat dropped their record down to 12-10. As for Thornton, their loss dropped their record down to 0-14.
