Basketball Recap: Crosby Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Win

45 must be Crosby's lucky number: they beat Royal with that score not once but twice on Friday. The Cougars beat the Falcons by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 45-23. The win was familiar territory for the Cougars, who have now won six games in a row.

Crosby got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Emony Destin out in front who posted 11 points and three steals. Destin has become a key player for the Cougars: the team is 4-1 when she posts at least three steals, but 4-5 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Sanari Mayes, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and ten rebounds.

Crosby smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 30 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Crosby's win bumped their record up to 8-6. As for Royal, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Crosby has already played their next matchup, a 58-44 loss against Port Arthur Memorial on the 6th. As for Royal, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Harmony School of Innovation at 6:00 p.m. on the 16th. The game will give the Falcons their first taste of in-conference action this season.
