Strafford came tearing into Thursday's matchup with nine straight wins , and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Springfield Catholic Fighting Irish with a sharp 3-0 win. That's more bragging rights for the Indians, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Strafford took every set by at least 13 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-8, 25-12, 25-4.

Strafford can attribute much of their success to Payten Coulter, who had eight digs and three aces. Those three aces gave Coulter a new career-high. Trista Vanhorn also deserves some recognition as she served her first ace of the season.

They weren't the only good servers: Strafford was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 11 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least seven aces in six consecutive contests.

Strafford's victory bumped their record up to 12-1-2. As for Springfield Catholic, they dropped their record down to 0-11 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road.

Coming up, Strafford will challenge Lockwood at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday. As for Springfield Catholic, they will square off against Reeds Spring at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
