Madison is a perfect 10-0 against Mitchell since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Patriots are taking a road trip to challenge the Mountaineers at 4:30 p.m. Madison is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.
While Madison's victory against Rosman wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Patriots beat the Tigers on Monday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 8-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Patriots have posted against the Tigers since April 21, 2022.

Carrie Gunter made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 16 batters over seven innings while giving up six earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run and one double.
In other batting news, Madison let Addie Sams and Kylee Ball run wild. Sams went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double, while Ball got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one run and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Paige Peek, who earned two runs and one stolen base.
Madison hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Mitchell came up short against Owen two weeks ago, falling 18-3.
Mitchell saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Grace Willis, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI.
Madison pushed their record up to 8-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Mitchell, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season.
Mitchell's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Madison has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.4 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Mitchell, though, as they've been averaging only 3.4 strikeouts. Will Madison keep running through batters, or will the Mountaineers buck the trend?
Madison took their victory against Mitchell in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 18-0 score. Will the Patriots repeat their success, or do the Mountaineers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
