Soccer Game Preview: Arroyo Grande vs. Pioneer Valley

The Arroyo Grande Eagles will face off against the Pioneer Valley Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Friday just wasn't the day for Arroyo Grande's offense. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of San Luis Obispo on Friday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Eagles came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 206th, while the Tigers are ranked 508th).

Meanwhile, Pioneer Valley hasn't lost a match since November 26, 2024, a trend which continued in their latest game on Friday. They had just enough and edged Paso Robles out 2-1. The score was all tied up 1-1 at the break, but the Panthers were the better team in the second half.

Jairo Basurto and Joseph Sosa scored both of Pioneer Valley's goals, bringing their combined season tally to six goals.

Pioneer Valley is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-2-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up two goals over those six games. As for Arroyo Grande, their loss dropped their record down to 9-5-1.
