Softball Recap: Bethlehem Central Has No Trouble Against Columbia

While Bethlehem Central put up plenty of runs on Monday, the same can't be said for Columbia. The Eagles put the hurt on the Blue Devils with a sharp 12-0 win. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by six runs or more this season.

Lyla Hanlon made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, Molly Campbell was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Katherine Sauders was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Bethlehem Central pushed their record up to 5-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Columbia, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bethlehem Central will welcome Colonie Central at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Columbia, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Ichabod Crane at 4:30 p.m. The Blue Devils' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Riders have averaged an impressive 7.8 runs per game this season.
