Basketball Game Preview: Ashe County Huskies vs. South Caldwell Spartans

Ashe County hasn't had much luck against South Caldwell recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Ashe County Huskies will face off against the South Caldwell Spartans at 8:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Friday, Ashe County had to suffer through a 85-55 loss at the hands of Freedom. While losing is never fun, the Huskies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 439th, while the Patriots are ranked 92nd).

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for South Caldwell, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They came out on top against Alexander Central by a score of 61-53 on Friday.

Ashe County's loss dropped their record down to 6-8. As for South Caldwell, their victory bumped their record up to 11-5.

Ashe County came up short against South Caldwell when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 62-58. Can Ashe County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
