Baseball Recap: Slidell's Winning Streak Snapped at Eight Games

It was a good run, but Slidell unfortunately witnessed the end of their eight-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of the St. Paul's Wolves by a score of 4-3. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Tigers of the 5-4 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2024.

Troy Green spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits and racked up 14 Ks. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in walks (one).

At the plate, Slidell saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brayden Calamari, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI.

Slidell's defeat dropped their record down to 12-7. As for St. Paul's, the win snapped their losing streak at seven games and leaves them with a 7-11 record.

Looking ahead, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Slidell Tigers take on Destrehan Wildcats at 11:30 p.m. on Saturday. Slidell's pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so Destrehan's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for St. Paul's, they will head out on the road to square off against Hammond at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup will give St. Paul's their first taste of in-conferenceaction this season.
