Basketball Recap: Wausau East's Higher State Rank on Full Display on Tuesday

Wausau East won the last time they faced Merrill and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Wausau East Lumberjacks came out on top against the Merrill Bluejays by a score of 59-51. Given the Lumberjacks' advantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 24th, while the Bluejays are ranked 220th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

The win made it two in a row for Wausau East and bumps their season record up to 13-2. As for Merrill, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-9 record this season.

Wausau East will venture away from home to take on Marshfield at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Wausau East knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 15 games -- so hopefully Marshfield likes a good challenge.
