Football Recap: Eldred Skates Past Catkill/Cairo-Durham with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Eldred). They blew past Catkill/Cairo-Durham 42-12 on Friday. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 42-6.

Eldred had a senior duo take command as Koen McGill rushed for 136 yards and two touchdowns on only five carries and James Deyermond gained 155 total yards and three touchdowns. McGill is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 136 every time he's taken the field this season. Connor Ranaudo got in on the action as well, returning a kick for a touchdown.

Eldred was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 211 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Eldred didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Trai Kaufmann, McGill, and Mason Tice picked up one apiece.

The victory made it two in a row for Eldred and bumps their season record up to 3-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 12 points in those games. As for Catkill/Cairo-Durham, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.

Looking ahead, Eldred will be playing at home against Tri-Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Catkill/Cairo-Durham, they will head out to square off against Millbrook/Webutuck on Friday.
