Top football-basketball programs in the nation

DeSoto (Texas) has a unique distinction that no other school in the country can claim: Over the past five years, it is the only high school in the nation to be ranked in the top 100 for both football and basketball.

The Eagles have finished as high as No. 3 in football in the MaxPreps Computer Football Rankings presented by the Army National Guard (2012) and no lower than No. 98 in 2011. In basketball, DeSoto was ranked No. 17 in the Computer Basketball Rankings in 2012 and no lower than No. 94 in 2013.

As a result, DeSoto ranks No. 1 on our list of the top football-basketball programs in the nation. Using the MaxPreps Computer Rankings for both sports, MaxPreps has compiled a list of the top 25 football-basketball programs over the past five seasons.

Rankings were compiled by taking a school's ranking placement in both sports over the past five years and adding them together. The lower the total, the higher the overall ranking on the Football-Basketball Program list. DeSoto had the lowest aggregate total with 324 points.



Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas) is next on the list with 506 points while Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.) is third with 602 points.

California had eight schools make the list while Texas and Indiana each had four.
