Basketball Recap: Petersburg Takes a Loss

Petersburg lost against Philip Barbour back in February of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Petersburg Vikings took a 65-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Philip Barbour Colts. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (55), the Vikings still had to take the loss.

Philip Barbour found their leader in sophomore Izzy Knotts, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten boards. Knotts continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Finley Carpenter, who went 5 of 11 on her way to 15 points and six steals.

Petersburg has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-7 record this season. As for Philip Barbour, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-6.

Petersburg has already played their next contest, a 49-41 loss against Pocahontas County on the 29th. As for Philip Barbour, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 72-23 victory against Liberty on the 29th.
