Soccer Recap: Salem Comes Up Short

After flying high against Cave Spring on Friday, Salem came back down to earth. The Spartans came up short against the Blacksburg Bruins on Tuesday, falling 4-1. Salem were red-hot offensively heading into the contest (they scored no less than four goals in the three matchups prior), but Blacksburg's defense proved too tough.

Salem's goal came courtesy of Anthony Rugama, who's now up to 11 this season.

Salem moved to 7-5 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Blacksburg, the win keeps they at an undefeated 12-0.

Salem wasted no time getting back out on the pitch and has already played their next game, a 1-0 victory against George Washington on the 8th. As for Blacksburg, they also didn't take long to hit the pitch again: they've already played their next contest, a 4-0 win against Radford on the 9th.
