Basketball Recap: Syracuse Starts Season with Win on the Road

Syracuse had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They took their matchup on Friday with ease, bagging a 57-16 victory over the Roy Royals. The Titans haven't had any issues with the Royals recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Syracuse to victory, but perhaps none more so than Rachel McBride, who posted ten points in addition to six boards and three steals. Karsyn Visser was another key player, putting up eight points and four steals.

Syracuse was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Roy only posted two.

Despite the loss, Roy saw an underclassman step up: freshman Lily Solomona scored seven points along with five rebounds and three blocks.

Roy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Syracuse will look to takes advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they takes on Morgan at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Roy, they will welcome Weber at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
