Softball Game Preview: Turkeyfoot Valley Area Rams vs. Blacklick Valley Vikings

The Turkeyfoot Valley Area Rams will head out on the road to take on the Blacklick Valley Vikings at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Turkeyfoot Valley Area and eight for Blacklick Valley.

Turkeyfoot Valley Area came up short against North Star last Monday, falling 13-3. That's two games in a row now that the Rams have lost by exactly ten runs.

Ellie King was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. That double was her first of the season.

Conemaugh Valley hit Blacklick Valley with a ten-run first inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Vikings lost 18-3 to the Blue Jays.

Kayla Woods made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Sarah Mourey, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

Blacklick Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Turkeyfoot Valley Area, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.

Blacklick Valley's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Turkeyfoot Valley Area has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.2 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Blacklick Valley, though, as they've been averaging only 3.3 strikeouts. Will Turkeyfoot Valley Area keep running through batters, or will the Vikings buck the trend?

Turkeyfoot Valley Area skirted past Blacklick Valley 14-13 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rams since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
