Softball Game Preview: Tillamook Cheesemakers vs. Seaside Seagulls

For the second straight game, Tillamook will face off against Seaside. The Cheesemakers will take on the Seagulls at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Tillamook has given up an average of 14.9 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Tillamook took a seven-run defeat the last time they faced off against Seaside, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Cheesemakers had just enough and edged out the Seagulls 16-14. The victory was some much needed relief for the Cheesemakers as it spelled an end to their seven-game losing streak.

Meghan Erickson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and ten unearned) runs off 11 hits. Erickson was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Dannielle Stockdale and Jaylin Krumweide did most of the damage at the plate: Stockdale went 3-for-4 with five runs, one triple, and one double, while Krumweide got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one double. That's the most runs Krumweide has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Jaedyn Haertel, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Seaside dropped their record down to 3-20 with the loss, which was their 12th straight on the road. As for Tillamook, their win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-10 and their overall record up to 5-17.
