St. Bernard had won three straight games and Trenten Hagler did his part to make it four on Friday. The Crusaders blew past the Montgomery Vikings 50-14 for which the team can thank Hagler, who threw for 141 yards and four touchdowns on only 11 passes, and also rushed for 111 yards and one score on only eight carries. His longest rush was for an impressive 55 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.

Special teams played a big role in the game for St. Bernard's, adding 19 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Kuron Devlin, who ran a punt back for a touchdown. Another bright spot was a kickoff return touchdown from him.

One reason for the win was St. Bernard's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for 11 sacks. Jahseree Bailey led the group effort, picking up 3.5 of those sacks all by himself. He is on a roll when it comes to sacks, as he's now posted at least one in each of the last four games he's played dating back to last season.

St. Bernard's victory bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Montgomery, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

St. Bernard's will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Eureka at 2:00 p.m. on October 4. As for Montgomery, they will take on Rancho Cotate at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
