Football Recap: Hueytown Falls to Clay-Chalkville in First Game of Season + How To Watch

Hueytown unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a blow against the Clay-Chalkville Cougars on Friday, falling 42-15. The Golden Gophers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-0.

Damoni Green threw for 138 yards and one TD. Quentrell Jackson was his top target, picking up 36 receiving yards.

Clay-Chalkville had a senior duo take command as Aaron Frye threw for 191 yards and three touchdowns on only 12 passes and Corey Barber picked up 188 receiving yards and a pair of scores. Cayden Farris also helped out with an impressive 87 receiving yards.

Hueytown will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Mountain Brook at 7:00 p.m. on September 5. As for Clay-Chalkville, they will face off against Ramsay at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
