Basketball Game Preview: Wellington Skyrockets vs. Stratford Elks

The Wellington Skyrockets will challenge the Stratford Elks at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Last Tuesday, Wellington blew past Quanah, posting a 73-41 victory. Given the Skyrockets' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 228th, while the Indians are ranked 483rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Stratford entered their tilt with Sanford-Fritch on Tuesday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Eagles 81-41. The Elks' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Stratford has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 27-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.2 points per game. As for Wellington, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 22-9.

Wellington came up short against Stratford in their previous meeting back in February of 2017, falling 37-24. Can Wellington avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
